Privacy Policy

Your record is yours.

What DowJo collects, why, who helps us run it, and the choices you have. DowJo has no ads and no analytics trackers, and never sells your personal information.

Under review. This document is being finalised with legal counsel. Until then it describes, in plain language, how DowJo works today. Questions: support@dowjo.ai.

1.The short version

  • We collect what we need to run your account, your training and your plan.
  • No advertising, no ad trackers, no third-party analytics, and we do not sell or rent your personal information.
  • AI coaching means your Mentor conversations are processed by our AI provider to generate replies.
  • You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data at any time: support@dowjo.ai.

2.Who we are

DowJo (“DowJo”, “we”, “us”) runs the DowJo website and app and is responsible for the personal information described here. Contact us at support@dowjo.ai.

3.What we collect

  • Account: your email address and sign-in details (passwords are handled by our authentication provider, never stored by us in readable form), or your Google name and email if you sign in with Google.
  • Profile: your display name and handle, an avatar from our gallery or a photo you upload, and the answers you give during onboarding (such as your interests, experience and goals).
  • Learning record: lessons, drills, belts, practice and Simulator activity with practice capital, the judgments you commit, Kumite matches, journals and reviews — the record your coaching is built on.
  • Mentor conversations: what you ask Jo and the Mentor, the replies, and the coaching memory DowJo keeps so the coaches can pick up where you left off.
  • Community: rooms you join, messages, posts, votes, Research notes you write and anything you choose to share publicly, such as your Crest.
  • Billing: your plan, subscription status and a Stripe customer reference. Card details stay with Stripe.
  • Notifications: your notification settings and, if you turn on push notifications, the browser push address needed to deliver them.
  • Technical: IP address, device and browser information and request logs processed by our hosting provider to run and secure the Service, plus usage counts we keep to apply plan allowances.

We do not collect government ID, bank or brokerage account details, or your real-money trading activity.

4.How we use it

  • to run your account and the Service, and keep your progress in sync across devices;
  • to personalise training — what to practise next, coaching and reviews based on your record;
  • to generate AI coaching replies;
  • to process payments and manage your plan and allowances;
  • to run the community, including moderation, which may use automated and AI-assisted tools;
  • to answer support requests, keep DowJo secure, and prevent abuse;
  • to understand and improve the product, using our own aggregate records rather than third-party analytics.

5.Who processes it for us

We share personal information only with the service providers that run DowJo for us:

Supabase
Sign-in, the database that holds your account and learning record, and file storage (for example, a profile photo you upload). Also sends account emails such as sign-up confirmation.
Vercel
Hosts the website and app. Like any web host, it processes request data such as IP addresses in server logs.
Stripe
Payments and subscriptions. Stripe collects and holds your card details; DowJo receives your plan status, not your full card number.
Anthropic
The AI models behind Jo, Dow, Sensei and the Mentor. Your messages and the learning context needed to answer them are sent to generate a reply; when Jo researches, searches run through Anthropic. Uploaded profile photos get a one-off safety check here.
Voyage AI
Search ranking for the Mentor. The text of a question may be sent to find the most relevant lessons and Research notes.
Matrix homeserver
Community chat rooms and direct messages run on a Matrix server operated for DowJo, which stores the messages you send there.
Web push services
Only if you turn on notifications: your browser's push service (for example Apple, Google or Mozilla) delivers them.
Google
Only if you choose “Continue with Google”: Google confirms who you are and shares your name and email with us.

Some services provide data toDowJo and receive nothing about you from our servers: crypto market data (CoinGecko — “Data provided by CoinGecko”) and vidIQ, which helps us find public finance videos for Market Break.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of DowJo, in which case this policy would continue to apply to it.

6.Cookies, local storage and embeds

DowJo uses essential cookiesto keep you signed in, and your browser’s local storage for things like preferences and guest practice. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

Third-party embeds load only when you choose.Videos in Market Break play in YouTube, TikTok and Instagram’s own players, which load only when you press play. A TradingView research chart loads only when you open it. Once loaded, those providers may set their own cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies.

7.What other people can see

Your handle, avatar and anything you post in a room are visible to the members of that room. Your Crest and public Research notes are visible to anyone, only if you choose to publish them. Direct messages are visible to the people in the conversation.

The community includes a small number of disclosed AI learners. They are AI, labelled as such, and their activity is part of a research experiment in learning alongside AI.

8.How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is open, so your record and coaching can continue. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we must keep certain records — for example, billing records for tax and accounting — or need them to resolve disputes or prevent abuse. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire.

9.Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To make a request, email support@dowjo.ai from the address on your account. We may need to confirm it is you before acting, and we will respond within the time the law requires.

  • Delete your account: there is no self-serve delete button yet — email support@dowjo.ai and we will take care of it. Cancel any paid plan first from Profile → Plan → Billing.
  • Notifications:turn them on or off at any time in the app’s notification settings or your device settings.
  • Profile photo: remove it at any time from your profile.

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

10.Security

We protect your information with access controls, encryption in transit, and per-account database rules that keep your private record visible only to you. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

11.Children

DowJo is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact support@dowjo.aiand we will delete it. Members aged 13 to 17 should use DowJo with a parent or guardian’s permission.

12.International transfers

Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from where you live. Where the law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

13.Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as DowJo changes and change the “Last updated” date. For material changes we will tell you in the app or by email.
